View Predefined Dashboards with Aternity Data in Portal

When you connect the Aternity data source to Portal™, it offers predefined dashboards which display Aternity data, or you can display a single custom panel of Aternity data alongside other panels from of other connected Riverbed products (detailed in a separate article).

For example, you can view Aternity's predefined Application > Department Details dashboard template if a department experiences slow response times in Microsoft Outlook across several locations.

The predefined Aternity dashboard templates in Portal may change when you update your Portal version.

You can only view Aternity data up to the past seven days.

For example:

To... Do this...

To display application performance data from multiple Riverbed products

Select the predefined Application Details template, which displays data from Aternity and other products like NetProfiler, depending on the data sources you connected.

The Aternity Data Source only sends data about applications which people actually use. If no one opened an application during the timeframe, it does not appear in the dashboards.

To monitor the performance of Microsoft Outlook in the Sales team

Select the Application > Department Details predefined dashboard, and configure it for Sales and Microsoft Outlook.

To determine whether performance meets SLA targets in different applications

Select the SLA Dashboard predefined dashboard, then, drill down from applications that are not meeting SLAs, to troubleshoot performance issues.

To view the most active users and most-performed activities

Select the predefined Top Talkers predefined dashboard.

To view more details inside the Aternity product

Right-click on an element in a predefined panel which uses the Aternity data source, and select Launch to view the data in Aternity.

If your Aternity and your Portal support SSO with the same identity provider (IdP), you can drill down into Aternity dashboards without signing in to the Portal separately.

Drill down for more details in the Portal dashboard open and view in Aternity.

While the data is identical in the Portal and Aternity, it may look like different data. This is due to slight differences in timeframe and in the level of detail displayed in the dashboard. Aternity often summarizes (aggregates) data into averages when timeframes are longer.

For example, the Recent week timeframe in the Portal includes the past seven full days (168 hours), while in an Aternity dashboard, the Last 7 Days timeframe includes the prior six full days, plus the hours from midnight at the start of the seventh day until the data request. This is likely to be a shorter period, thus affecting the displayed data.
