View User Data Collected by Aternity

This section lists the data collected about a user on a device, which serves to complete the picture of a single user's experience, or whether a symptom appears for all users in a department or office.

AD Department

(For all devices except mobile and Macs) Displays the department of the current user logged in to this device.

Agent sends LDAP queries to the Active Directory (AD) to find information about the connected domain controller, then extracts the user's > Properties > Organization > Department.

AD Office

(For all devices except mobile) Displays the office where the current user logged in to this device.

For example, if a user based in the Houston office is currently visiting the Chicago office, the Office is Houston, while the Location would be Chicago.

Agent sends LDAP queries to the Active Directory (AD) to find information about the connected domain controller, then extracts the user's > Properties > General > Office (physicalDeliveryOfficeName).

AD Title

(For all devices except mobile and Macs) Displays the job title of the current user logged in to this device. In Windows, this is the same as the AD Title.

Company Name

(Mobile devices only) Displays the name of the company as determined by the app developer who manually set this field in the app's monitoring as part of the Aternity Mobile SDK.

Mobile apps can set this manually in the Aternity Mobile SDK.

Department

Displays the name of the department to which the user or the device belongs.

(Windows) Agent sends LDAP queries to the Active Directory (AD) to find information about the connected domain controller, then extracts the user's > Properties > Organization > Department (department).

(Mobile) Displays only if Aternity SaaS Administration configured it in the Aternity advanced settings.

(Macs) Displays only if Aternity SaaS Administration manually mapped this device to a department.

Email Address

(Windows only) Displays the email address associated with the current logged in user.

Agent sends LDAP queries to the Active Directory (AD) to find information about the connected domain controller, then extracts the user's > Properties > General > E-mail (mail).

Office or AD Office

(For all devices except mobile) Displays the office where the current user logged in to this device.

For example, if a user based in the Houston office is currently visiting the Chicago office, the Office is Houston, while the Location would be Chicago.

User Domain

Displays the LDAP domain name for the user who is logged in to the device.

User Full Name

(Windows only) Displays the full name of the person accessing the device as defined in the corporate LDAP (not the username).

User Role

Displays user role descriptions customized by your organization, for example, Floor Sales, or Phone Support.

Only displays if you defined a custom attribute using this predefined name.

Region

You can optionally define a region in Aternity to group together several locations under a single label, like the geographical region of EMEA, North America or even Southern Europe, South-Western US any other grouping you choose.

Aternity reports location using the chosen method for location mapping.

User Connection Location

This attribute is useful when analyzing remote workforce: when working remotely from home, using VPN, being completely off-site or logging in remotely to a VDI or a physical device left in the office.

Displays the reported location of the monitored device. The possible values are: Remote (VPN On), Remote (VPN Off), Remote (Non-Corporate VPN), In-Office.

User connection location and device connection location may be different when working remotely.

User Title

Displays the job title of the current user logged in to this device. In Windows, this is the same as the AD Title.

(Mobile) Displays only if Aternity SaaS Administration manually mapped this device to a department.

(Macs) Displays only if Aternity SaaS Administration manually mapped this device to a department.

Username

Displays the username signed in to the device's operating system.

(Windows) Agent sends LDAP queries to the Active Directory (AD) to find information about the connected domain controller, then extracts the user's > Properties > > Name.

(Mobile) Mobile apps can set this manually in the Aternity Mobile SDK.

(Mac) The Aternity Agent for Mac queries the macOS

User Custom Attributes

Custom Attribute 1 through 9 are placeholder custom attributes which you can optionally define (for usernames, for example). Learn more.
