~Monitor Options Override~

Overview

The Monitor Options Override provides Aternity administrators with central control over the agent hooking settings and instrumentation options. This provides an easy method to fully disable injection into a specific process or to stop hooking some technology without having to disable monitor by monitor and/or manipulate configuration flags.

It is useful to be able to disable the injection into a specific process in the case where there is a potential conflict between the Aternity Agent and another application.

To access the Monitor Options Override screen in the Console, click Settings () and select Monitors Options Override.

Note:

Only the Stop monitoring a process action is currently supported.

Stop Monitoring a Process Action

The Stop monitoring a process action stops the Aternity Agent from monitoring a specific process. This includes any hooks injection.

The following is the Stop monitoring a process section of the Monitor Options Override screen:

The following parameters are associated with the Stop monitoring a process action:

  • Select Process: You can select the process name that you want to stop the Aternity Agent from monitoring from the drop-down list.
  • Affected Activities: This list is the activities that are associated with the process selected in the previous parameter that will be disabled. An activity will be disabled as long as it is associated with the selected process to stop monitoring - even if it is, in addition, associated to some other processes.
  • Group Assignment: You can select one or more groups of Agents to apply this override configuration operation to. Groups of Agents are defined in the End Point Groups screen.
  • Apply & Publish: This activates the changes that have been made to the Aternity Agent configuration, the changes have to be published. When you click Apply & Publish, the changes are saved, and the updated configuration is sent to the relevant Agents.
Note:

When selecting iexplore, usually no activity will be explicitly disabled. However, the Aternity Agent will stop monitoring iexplore and will stop generating any HTML events from embedded IE frames that are related to other processes as well.

Agents 5.0.x and earlier may require an additional publish or re-start in order for stop injecting the iexplore HTML hook to take affect.

Effective Override Operations

The Effective Override Operations list displays a time-stamped record of each action taken and still effective.

To see the complete information on the override operation, click the plus sign (+) to expand the operation.

To revert an action, click the Revert icon on the right side of the action.

Note:

Reverted actions are immediately applied and erased from the Effective Override Operations list.

Agents 5.0.x and earlier may require an additional publish or re-start in order for the 'stop monitoring iexplore' revert action takes effect.
