~Performance Navigator: Analyze Tab Overview~

The Analyze tab contains specialized features that allow advanced users to view specific performance criteria. Unlike the Troubleshoot tab, which has limited viewing and filtering options, the Analyze tab provides customized controls that enable users to view and compare any performance metric measured by the Aternity system. For example, users can create filters to:

  • Compare the performance of two or more activities according to location, department, hardware configuration, etc.
  • Compare performance of different time periods within one timeframe, for example, specific days during a given week.
  • Evaluate End User productivity by viewing the number of activities performed within a specific timeframe.
  • Analyze quality of service of the entire organization or of specific subgroups.

Performance Query Workflow

Creating customized filters for a performance query is generally done in a specific sequential process:

  1. Specifying a Timeframe: Select a predefined timeframe, or use the Date Navigation toolbar to specify a custom timeframe.
  2. Choosing a Use Case Option: Define the general purpose of the performance query. The Performance Analysis and Comparative Analysis options provide reports of actual measurements of selected activities and attributes. The Quality of Service and Influencing Performance Factors options use a statistical formula to calculate the overall performance of selected activities.
  3. Selecting Activities and Status Type: The activities selected are the foundation for all types of performance inquiries. The Selected Activities List can include activities from multiple monitors. Choose baseline status, threshold status, or both.
  4. Specifying Comparison Categories: Choose categories for performance comparisons (such as location, day of week, CPU speed, etc.), and arrange them in a specific order. The arrangement of the categories determines the order in which they appear in the Grid view and the order of drill down in Chart views.
  5. Designating Filters: Define platform type and End Point attribute filters for the selected activities. Create a customized Filter List by selecting a set of attributes relevant to the performance query.
  6. Generating Chart Views and Drilling Down: Generate graphic displays of the requested performance data, and navigate among a selection of chart views. Drill down to obtain more detailed information about specific filters.
