Changing Vertica IP Address

This article explains how to change IP Addresses for cluster nodes of the Aternity Vertica Database Server.

Vertica is a third-party column-store database optimized for large volume data analytics. The Aternity Vertica Database Server stores the performance data in the Vertica format, which is most efficient for displaying in Aternity dashboards. It receives its data from the Aternity Docker Components Server.

Before you begin

  • Complete setting up one or more Aternity Vertica Database Servers.

Procedure

  1. Step 1 Create the file that maps IP addresses of database nodes.
Create the file under /home/dbadmin on one of the active nodes. It should have the following structure: <node001 old address node001 new address>.
    For example, 10.0.0.10 10.0.54.215
  2. Step 2 Stop database using administrative tools. Learn more.
  3. Step 3 As dbadmin user, run $ admintools -t re_ip -f mapfile
Run the command from the node where the IP mapping file was created.
  4. Step 4 When prompted, enter yes. See the status of performed tasks.
  5. Step 5 Start database using administrative tools.
  6. Step 6 Check using admintools that all nodes are up and running.
