Restore Aternity Database from a Backup / Disaster Recovery (DR)

If the Aternity Database Server fails, and you implemented a clone server using Oracle Data Guard, you can restore the database server if needed.

Clone the Aternity Database Server

Before you begin

You must already have a cloned database, as detailed in the Aternity backup strategy.

If you also need to restore the Aternity Management Server, you must first recover the disk image which you backed up after the last upgrade, as detailed in the Aternity backup strategy.

  1. Step 1 Use Oracle Data Guard to convert the cloned Database Server into the primary server.
  2. Step 2 On the computer which runs the Aternity Management Server, launch the Configuration Tool from the Start menu, by right-clicking it and selecting Run as administrator to start.

When you create any Aternity server it adds the Configuration Tool.

  3. Step 3 Select Database Configuration to change the address of the Database Server.
    Configure the database address
  4. Step 4 Configure the Management Server to use the address of the clone server as the newDatabase Server.
  5. Step 5 Restart the Management Server.
