Key Task: Device Inventory

You can obtain a detailed inventory of the devices in your organization with Aternity, to know which devices are in use and by whom.

For example, you can see the number of devices running a particular operating system, or the number of devices from a certain manufacturer. You can also tie this information to usernames, to find out who is using a device, or what device is used by a specific person. This is a very common task, for simple solutions like finding the device belonging to the user who locked a file.

There are several ways to do this:

To determine the number of devices with specific hardware (device type, RAM, disk space, manufacturer, model, CPU) or running a specific operating system

Use the Device Inventory dashboard.

To determine the devices operated by a specific user

Search for a device and user. For more information, see Key Task: Device Details.

To determine the name of the person using a specific device

To quickly search for a specific device name (hostname) or username

Use the quick search in the top bar. For more information, see Quick Search for a Device, User or Application from the Top Bar.


  1. Step 1 Open a browser and sign in to Aternity.
  2. Step 2 Select Main Menu > Inventory > Device Inventory.
