Key Task: Monitor NOC - Autorefresh (Beta)

Use the NOC - Autorefresh (Beta) dashboard to get a real-time view of the performance for your most important applications and business locations. At a glance, you can see the score (Apdex-inspired formula) and activity volume for your worst performing and most used applications and locations. The NOC shows the current performance as well as the performance for the last hour and the full day, so you know whether a problem is new or existing.

The Monitor NOC dashboard
Field Description
Worst Activities by Application

Displays the overall performance for each managed application by aggregating all the activity statuses for that application into a single Apdex inspired formula.

The lists are sorted based on performance of the Apdex inspired formula across all of the columns in a widget.

Top Activities by Application

Same as above, but sorted based on the activity volume for the Today column.

Worst Activities by Location

Displays the overall performance of all managed applications in each location of your organization by aggregating all the activity statuses for that location into a single Apdex inspired formula.

The lists are sorted based on performance of the Apdex inspired formula across all of the columns in a widget.

Top Activities by Location

Same as above, but sorted based on the activity volume for the Today column.

Usage Trend

Displays the trend for the overall load in the enterprise: the total for application usage time across all devices and all applications in the organization for the 5-minute slot.

The usage time of an application is the total time it is running, in the foreground, and being used. This includes the wait time, the time a user spends waiting for the application to respond. For web applications, the usage time is when both the browser window and the application's tab are in the foreground.

The widget will always show the most recent 6 hours of data.

Remote Display Latency

Displays the overall latency for virtual sessions (or lag) in seconds for each type of virtualized environment (virtual desktops and virtual applications), gathered from latency measurements taken every minute. It lists the following protocols (if present in your organization):

  • ICA is the protocol used by Citrix XenApp.

  • RDP is the protocol used by Microsoft products like Remote Desktop Connection. It is also increasingly being adopted by newer versions of Citrix XenApp.

  • PCoIP and Blast are the protocols used by VMWare's VDI systems.

You can access data in this dashboard (retention) going back up to the last midnight on the browser's time zone.

This dashboard's data refreshes every four minutes.

Note

There is an old NOC View dashboard where only database refreshes, not the browser, and where you should manually refresh the view. But the old dashboard has some other functionalities. For example, if you see a problematic location and can know the applications which are not performing well. You can also drill down to other dashboards. Learn more.

Procedure

  1. Step 1 Open a browser and sign in to Aternity.
  2. Step 2 Select Main Menu > Monitor > NOC.
    Accessing the NOC dashboard
  3. Step 3 View the number of activities and their overall status for different applications or in different locations.

Each icon shows a summary of the performance for that item, and alongside it, it displays the number of user activities behind that measurement. The color of each icon represents its status which comes from its overall Apdex inspired formula.

You can view the actual score of the application by hovering your mouse over it.

Overall application performance with the number of activities, as shown in the Monitor NOC dashboard
    Field Description

    Green activity

A green activity has a normal status, when its response time is as expected, which is less than the minor baseline for this activity.

    Yellow activity

A yellow activity has a minor status when its response time is slower than expected, since it passed the minor baseline for this activity.

    Orange activity

A orange activity has a major status when its response time is significantly slower than expected, since it passed the major baseline for this activity.

    Red activity

A red activity has a critical status, when the activity failed to respond.

In addition, there are also entries with no status:

    Gray activity

If an event or activity has fewer than 10 occurrences, it does not have a status, and therefore it displays as gray. It means there were not enough events or activities to estimate the performance.

The columns displayed are as follows:

    Field Description
    Now

This column displays data aggregated for the past ten minutes since the last updated time, as displayed in the top left corner of the dashboard.

    Last Hour

This column displays data aggregated for the last 60 minutes.

    Today

This column displays data aggregated since midnight based on the time zone of the browser of the user's device.
