Dashboard Enhancements

Aternity enhances data analysis on a regular basis to provide more value.
  • Aternity improved the performance of the advanced dashboards to provide you with a much better experience while building dashboards.

  • In advanced views, dimension and measure fields are now grouped together in folders what makes relevant information more visible and easily accessible.

  • Integrate and use a direct link to the IT Service Desk dashboard from external systems.

    Note
    You can easily embed a web link from your system to Aternity and access this dashboard directly from an external system. Create a reference link to Aternity and get the IT Service Desk dashboard. Use the external URL of the form {system base url}/api/ui-link/account/{account id}/device/name/{device name}/servicedesk. For example, https://my-demo.aternity.com/api/ui-link/account/3/device/name/adam_covert_wks/servicedesk. Enter the below parameters to create your direct link:
    • System Base URL:

      Add your Aternity URL.

    • Account ID:

      Enter the account ID for your Aternity. You can find this in the URL when you access Aternity, where the last few characters are ?BACCT=21, where the value (in this example 21) is your account ID.

    • Device Name/User Name:

      Enter the device or the user name to whom you want to connect.

NOC - autoupdate (Beta)

The new NOC - autoupdate (Beta) dashboard automatically refreshes every couple of minutes and presents live status of the performance of applications and devices in your organization. Now it is easy to monitor applications on the wall screens.

This new NOC view automatically updates to give you a real-time view of the performance for your most important applications and business locations. At a glance, you can see the Apdex-inspired score and activity volume for your worst performing and most used applications and locations. The NOC shows the current performance as well as the performance for the last hour and the full day, so you know whether a problem is new or existing.

REST API Updates

REST APIs provide a great deal of flexibility. Aternity releases new APIs on a constant basis and enriches existing APIs with more and more attributes for enhanced analysis.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams Integration Enhancements include the following:
  • Aternity integration with the Microsoft Teams allows monitoring both calls and scheduled meetings.

  • Aternity Agent for End User Devices 12.0.6 has been released for general availability (GA). Learn more.

  • Aternity Activity Designer 12.1 is now available for download from the Agent Download screen.

  • From now you can define by yourself how often to get the Insights digest email.

  • View Basic Dashboards role allows users to view but not edit dashboards and incidents in Aternity.

  • Select by yourself what source will populate the Department, Office, and Title fields: either pull data from Active Directory or from a CSV file.

  • Aternity made changes that allow you to fit more text in a message for end user confirmation when adding remediation actions to Aternity. Now the maximum number of characters allowed for the header text is 100 and the maximum number of characters allowed for the question text is 300.

Build Your Own Workspace (Beta)

Aternity offers enhanced troubleshooting capabilities including new views and a robust customization. You can now create your own custom and private view.
  • Administrators can easily customize and create new views specific to their tenant.

The New Agent for MAC 3.4 is in the beta phase.

Additional Enhancements

  • You can now configure a service desk alert to be triggered without a cooling period whenever the alert conditions are met.

    This is relevant for alerts with assigned automatic remediation actions. There is no need to wait for this alert to be handled manually.

  • Aternity Agent for end user devices 12.1.0 is now available for controlled release (Controlled Availability). To get an Agent, please contact Aternity Beta Team.

  • Instead of AND or OR, you can now use the in() function for filtering REST API queries. Learn rules and limitations for using this function.

Aternity is announcing the availability of the new app for integrating with ServiceNow. The new Aternity App for ServiceNow is available at the ServiceNow Store.

  • Mac Agent 3.3.106 is now a Release Candidate (learn more).

  • If your account license expires soon, you will see the icon on the top of the main screen that reminds you about the expiration date and allows adding the serial number on time. If you missed it, no worries. There is a 30 day grace period when you still can re-add your license. You will see the notification about it on the top of the main screen.

Aternity allows monitoring and reporting on the meetings held in the Zoom application and introduces the new advanced dashboard for analyzing those meetings. This dashboard includes many meeting-specific measurements and advanced attributes.

New Attributes

Aternity enhances and improves data analysis on a regular basis to provide more value. More attributes have been added to Applications, Business Activities, Device Health and Boots data sources:

  • User Connection Location and Device Connection Location attributes assist in analysis when working remotely from home, using VPN, being completely off-site or logging in remotely to a VDI or a physical device left in the office.

  • Is Device Used Remotely attribute distinguishes a device used locally from a device to which a user connects remotely.

  • OS Bitlocker Protection Status, Active Subnet, Serving Device Domain and OS Free Disk Space attributes, as well as additional custom attributes for greater flexibility.

  • Starting now it is possible to save views with State and/or City filters.

    This issue has been resolved by changing REST API field names: City and State column values used to be Country\State\City, but starting July release they will be Country/State/City. If you have started querying data for location names (like State eq USA\California), you need to change your filters (State eq USA/California). If you have started syncing data with an external system, you might see two different values for the Country/State/City fields: with a backslash until certain date and with a slash starting certain date.

Our Help Portal has undergone some significant improvements. There are many new updates on Aternity’s online help.
  • To make the search results look friendly, we group the articles with identical title and show the latest release by default.

  • It’s now possible to select whether to download only the topic you are reading or the whole publication.

  • The progress bar has been added to see the PDF download status.

  • Filters help you to quickly locate the right product and version. If you cannot find the necessary topic, check the filters and adjust them.

  • We will appreciate it a lot if you log in and send us a feedback. This will help us improve and provide a greater value to you.

New Agent for Windows Devices is Now Released

Aternity Insights into Employee Experience

Aternity collects a very rich set of data from all the devices and across multiple customers. As part of our artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) initiatives, we are launching the Insights project.

We provide insights from the data we collect to help you drive better analysis and decision-making process. The project is in its early stage and we invite customers to join us in the design phase. Customers who register will join the beta program and will receive insights emails periodically.

Data Restriction and Access Control (Beta)

Aternity introduces an access-control mechanism helping you in securing your company's sensitive data.

Aternity enables data restriction by tagging certain users or group of users and defining what data they are allowed to view. As Administrator of Aternity, when adding or editing users in Aternity, you can choose what data restriction value to assign to each user or group of users. This enables you to separate users' data by country or region to comply with data privacy regulations.

  • Aternity console users have access rights only to the information they are allowed to see.

  • Restricted users can view only a limited number of dashboards (mainly a single device and Analyze dashboards which are NOT Advanced).

Monitor Collaboration Tools’ Performance, Usage and Call Quality

Aternity has enhanced its monitoring capabilities for the most common collaboration tools.

Aternity provides an exciting feature with lots of opportunities for data analysis. If you create multiple dashboards within an advanced dashboard, Aternity will display it as a dashboard with multiple tabs next time you access it.
  • Arrange data in several sheets and dashboards that may be interrelated to each other and as a whole.

  • Analyze data following a predefined path of tabs.

  • Jump to any tab for deep analysis.

  • Each tab can be based on a different view or the entire dashboard can be based on the same visualization seen at different stages, with different filters.

Web Activity Creator (WAC 2.0 Beta) - Additional Features

WAC is an interactive Google Chrome extension that allows defining activities by selecting web events to indicate the start and end of business activities. WAC 2.0 offers a simple workflow to quickly create activities directly from either Google Chrome or Internet Explorer web browsers.
  • From this release you can indicate the end of a business activity upon multiple events.
